How do I get started?

Every tour starts with a phone or in-person interview with Geof. During this interview, he will find out what you're looking for, what you are comfortable with and what your abilities are (both you as the driver and your vehicle's.) From there, he will recommend the tour that is right for your personal needs.

How modified does my Jeep have to be?

That depends on the tour and the trail. We've taken stock vehicles places you wouldn't think they would go and had no problems. We've also taken the most modified rigs to the craziest places and had to use recovery gear to get them past an obstacle. Nearly any vehicle can attend a trail ride through the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Meanwhile, your vehicle will have to be prepared to conquer a trail like Poison Spider in Moab.

What if my vehicle can't get past an obstacle on a trail? (Or I'm too nervous to tackle it?)

Most trails give drivers the opportunity to go around the toughest obstacles. No one will push you past your or your vehicle's limits. Should we find ourselves in a spot where that isn't an option, Geof and team have the off-road recovery gear to get nearly any vehicle past most obstacles. In the event that the driver is nervous, Geof may take the wheel for a few minutes (with the driver's permission).

If the trail I am interested in isn't listed here on your website or your Facebook page, does that mean it's not available?

Not at all! Geof will travel to nearly any trail in the United States (and some outside of the US). Cost will be determined based on distance, length of the tour and number of Jeeps participating. For example, you and five friends want to take on the Rubicon Trail in California? Give Geof a call and we'll figure out a way to make that happen!

How do you prepare for a tour?

As the client, your prep is minimal. We'll want to make sure your vehicle is compatible with the trail, that your gear is in good order (how are your tires? Do you need an oil change?) and that you're packed for the adventure. As for Geof, he has been to nearly all of the most popular trails and will lean on that experience. If you have chosen a trail he is unfamiliar with, he will research the trail or drive in personally in advance to make sure there are no surprises.

What if I break down on the tour?

No one gets left behind! We're prepared for most incidents with a tire repair kit, jacks, tools and duct tape. In most cases, we'll be able to throw a band-aid on and finish the tour. In the event that we need to call in external help, at least one of your tour guides will stay with you until the recovery is complete.

What if my off-road vehicle isn't a Jeep?

As long as it's not a Range Rover, you can come. Just kidding! We talk a lot about Jeeps here, but any and all vehicles are welcome, as long as they can tackle the trail. That's something we can determine during your introduction call with Geof.

What about other vehicles?

If it goes off-road, your vehicle is welcome on our tours! We've taken stock Jeeps and Toyotas to places you might not think they could go. And we've also taken side-by-sides on extreme adventures.

"I''m the guy who always dreamed of wheeling Moab and then had a full-blown panic attack my first time out. Geof and the gang were patient and understanding and "talked me off of the ledge" so to speak. After getting past my initial fear, I had the time of my life conquering Poison Spider."

Geof is an amazing guide and spotter. He and his team are super friendly and created a fun and joking environment. We were at SMORR and did the badge of honor trails. After, we went on other trails throughout the park and there were some obstacles that I did not think my Jeep could get through. But Geof spotted me and my Jeep definitely surprised me! I will definitely be going out with Hoopers Adventures again!!
